Hi Alicia! I brought some of your Harry Potter bookmarks yeeeears back (I still have them and everybody I've shown them to loves them!) I was wondering if you'd ever made/if you'll ever make a digital colouring tutorial? I'd love to learn how you do it - the colours are always so gorgeous and painterly!
Hi! Those HP bookmarks are such a fun memory for me - I was talking about them only the other day! I’m glad to hear you enjoyed them!
I haven’t made a tutorial because I’m always muddling things out myself and learning new things- but I’ll try to think of some tips now…
-I use the program Paint Tool Sai lately because I really like the way it blends colours. Previously, I’ve used Open Canvas for the same reason.
-I very rarely used black lines in my drawings, often I’ll change them to brown, or even blue if it’s a darker drawing. I try to make them as integrated into the colour scheme as possible.
-Lastly, I add a texture over the top of a finished drawing, but with a super low opacity - usually under 15%. It shouldn’t be too visible to the naked eye, but it adds a depth to the picture.
If you have any specific questions, feel free to ask and I’ll do my best to help :)
Your muppet shirt should have won. It was by far the best. And I really want to buy it, so...
Thank you, I’m glad you liked it! I read on threadless that they might print more than one from the muppet contest, as it was so popular. If I’m lucky enough to get printed, I’ll definitely be letting everyone know!
The TG express from the recent series is the best whimsical invention they’ve done since the home-made motorhomes. I would have bought a ticket for their train…though maybe not for Jeremy’s scum class…
